1. Create for Life fundraiser
8 a.m. - 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20 at McCreary Center.
The cost is $40 per person and $30 for cancer survivors. The cost includes eight feet of work space per person to work on scrapbooking, quilting or other projects, lunch, supper, desserts and beverages. Vendors will be on site and make-and-take projects, door prizes and a swap table will be available. The event raises funds for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life of Dallas County. 2. Great Great Great Grands exhibit
2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20 at Carnegie Library and Museum.
Families who have a photo of a great, great, great grandparent are asked to bring at least one photo, share a few facts about their ancestor and be photographed for a family portrait. Today’s photo, combined with yesterday’s ancestor portrait, will be on display at the Carnegie Library and Museum from the end of October through mid-November.
The event and exhibit is co-sponsored by the Perry Public Library. All ages are invited and young children and grandparents are especially encouraged to attend.
3. Trunk or Treat
5-9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20 at Woodward-Granger High School.
Think of it as tailgating with candy. Cars are decorated in festive fashion and kids get goodies in a safe environment. The Woodward Fire Deptment will be hosting their soup supper and hay ride the same night and will be making a stop as part of the tour.
4. Woodward Fire Department soup supper
5:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20 at Woodward Fire Station.
The Woodward Fire Department will be serving soup, hot cider, hot chocolate and cookies on Oct. 20. A hay rack ride will also be offered during the event. A free-will donation will be taken, with all proceeds going to purchase equipment for the Woodward Fire Department.
5. October library coffee
9 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24 at Perry Public Library.
Join us for a Halloween themed program on Oct. 24. The October Lifelong Learners Coffee will deal with the topic of the Salem Witch Trials. Educator and historian Kathy Wilson will present “The Devil has My Consent.” Everyone is welcome at this free program. For more information, call the library at 515-465-3569.
6. Fall Tour of Homes and Wine Walk
4-6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25 at Spring Valley Retirement Community.

7. Friends of the Library trivia night
6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25 at La Poste.
Friends of the Perry Public Library is hosting a Trivia Spooktacular fundraiser on Oct. 25. This is a fun, Halloween event. Come in costume and compete for best costume prizes. Call early to pre-register at the library, 515-465-3569. The fee is $10 per person, and the first eight pre-registered teams may choose a category.
