In addition to the annual Spring Cleanup Waste Collection and the 1.5-yard Dumpster Rental Program, the City of Perry will provide a 4-cubic yard dumpster to a resident’s home once per year for a one-week period. This is a year-round program subject to the same rules and regulations as the regular Dumpster Rental Program. There is no cost for this Residential Dumpster Sharing Program.
The red “Clean Up, Clean Out” dumpster will be dropped off on Wednesday and picked up on the following Wednesday (no exceptions). Residents may reserve one 4-cubic yard dumpster per year, per address. Dumpsters are available on a first, come, first serve basis. Residents should call Perry City Hall at 515-465-2481 to reserve a dumpster. A Residential Dumpster Sharing Program Agreement must be signed and on file prior to the delivery of the dumpster.
The dumpster may be used for household items, junk, garbage, small items of furniture and building materials. Heavy items such as roofing shingles or drywall are acceptable, but they can only fill up to one-half of the container. Dumpsters must be placed on a hard surface. Dumpsters may not be placed on the street or sidewalk. Snow and ice accumulations must be removed and cars must be kept clear of the dumpster.
Items that are not acceptable in the dumpster include toxic, hazardous or flammable materials, pesticides, herbicides, solvents, gasoline, motor oil, paints, batteries, tires, concrete, appliances, televisions, monitors and yard waste. The customer is responsible for any additional landfill fees if these items are contained in the load.
The free Residential Dumpster Sharing Program is for residential garbage customers only with accounts in good standing with the City of Perry. Commercial businesses and apartment complexes are not eligible for this program.
