Wine glasses were filled with four samples of four different wines during a fundraising event on Saturday, Aug. 25.

Members of the Nudgers group went around The Cellar in La Poste to give samples of those wines to area residents during the fundraising event.

“Reds, Whites and the Blues” featured two white and two red samples of wine while music played in the background. Dirk Cavanaugh walked those in attendance through the tasting of each wine.

“We just have to start raising funds and we thought what better way to do it than (with wine),” Nudgers President Cindy Sohn said.

The event, she added, had a dual fundraising purpose.

She said the first was to help raise money for electrical work in the Nudgers’ building, located at 1316 2nd St. Suite A. The group received funds from 100+ People for Perry to help complete electrical work in the empty commercial space. The wine fundraiser was intended to help raise additional funds for the project.

Sohn added that the second purpose of the event was to honor the late Joe Warnock. The Nudgers are looking to purchase a bench in Warnock’s memory to be placed in front of the Eagles building, at 1316 2nd St. The building was the last one Warnock, who was a Nudger, worked on.

“Joe was a good friend, so it’s nice to be able to memorialize him too,” Sohn said.

She added that if the event is well received, the Nudgers may offer more wine tasting events in the future.

“We had a good turnout. I’m tickled,” Sohn said on Saturday night.
