On Aug. 21, the Perry Police Department conducted a traffic safety project aimed at distracted driving. Over the course of three hours, officers stopped 13 drivers for distracted driving and seat belt violations. A total of seven warnings and six citations were issued. The Perry Police Department will continue to enforce the distracted driving law and asks that drivers obey this important traffic safety law designed to reduce accidents.
Perry Police Officers will participate in another traffic safety project during the night of Friday, Aug. 24. Perry officers will be joined by the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office, Woodward Police Department and the Iowa State Patrol in a joint effort to identify impaired drivers along Highway 141. The project will encompass all of Highway 141 in Dallas County.
These projects are a part of Iowa’s Special Traffic Enforcement Program. This current wave runs from Aug. 17 through Sept. 3. Both projects are funded by grant from the Iowa Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau.
