New garbage procedures begin with routes on Monday, Aug. 6. The containers were delivered to residents the week of July 30.
Your garbage collection day will not change, except for residents on Kading Street or William Street, who will now be picked up on Monday.
Place your container out for pick up before 7 a.m. on your scheduled collection day. Containers may only be placed out for collection no more than 24 hours before scheduled pick-up and no more than 12 hours after pick-up.
Please do not overfill your container. The lid on the container should be closed. Please use bags inside of the container. Loose garbage may blow around and cause a mess in your neighborhood.
Place your container next to the street in front of your property, either in the driveway or on the parking, unless you receive a letter from the City of Perry stating that it should be placed in a different location. Don’t place the container in the street. Place it with the handle facing your home and the metal bar facing the street.
The container must have a 4-foot clearance around it to be picked up in a safe and proper manner. Don’t place the container near mailboxes, parked cars, utility poles, trees, brush or other items that prevent clear access to the container. If a container is out for collection, please don’t park in front of the container and block it. Please be respectful of your neighbors and other residents in Perry.
Effective Aug. 6, the City of Perry will no longer collect residential recycling curbside. Residents may bring their recyclables to three drop-off locations around the city. These drop off locations are located at the lot east of the Public Safety Building, 908 Willis Ave., at the main parking lot at the McCreary Center, 1800 Pattee St., and on the south side of the high school football field parking lot.
The 8-yard containers at these locations are only for residents who have garbage service with the City of Perry.
Please call Perry City Hall at 515-465-2481 if you have any questions.
