Construction is set to start on Highway 169 from Bouton to Ogden starting Wednesday, June 27.

A spokesman for the Iowa Department of Transportation said patching of Highway 169 is tentatively scheduled to start on June 27. The schedule is weather permitting.

Highway 169 will be open during the patching process. Those driving on the road will need to follow a pilot car, said Dennis Ward, construction technician supervisor.

Highway 169 will be closed to through traffic on approximately July 13, weather permitting. Patching will continue, he said, followed by full-width paving from Bouton to Ogden. A concrete overlay will be installed over the existing road.

The contractor for the project is Manatt’s, Inc. Ward said the contractor plans to pave about a mile a day. The paving project has an estimated completion date of Fall 2018.

Local residents along the 14-mile stretch will have access during the construction process. Ward said a letter will be sent to all residents along that stretch detailing the process.

There is a planned detour for through traffic. The detour is Highway 30 to Iowa 17 through Luther, down to Madrid, from Madrid to Woodward on Highway 210 and from Woodward to Highway 141 back to Highway 169.
