Finder’s Keepers Thrift Store is the newest business to call 2nd Street home.

The thrift store recently opened at 1120 2nd St., in the old Firehouse Ice Cream location. The business is run by owners Chantell Irvin and Karl Harris with assistance from Travis Irvin and Kelly Alliss.

The idea for a thrift store came from Chantell and Travis Irvin. Chantell said they have seven children and they always wanted a good bargain store.

“Finally, instead of going on vacation one year we decided to put our money into this,” she said of the thrift store.

The pair started a store in Des Moines before moving to Lil C’s in the East Perry Plaza.

Chantell Irvin said they found they couldn’t run the store by themselves. They brought in Harris as a co-owner and Alliss. They also changed the name of the store to Finder’s Keepers and moved it to 1120 2nd St.

“This is a fresh, new store,” Chantell Irvin said.

The store in East Perry Plaza was bigger, but Alliss said people have liked having it downtown.

“We’ve had a really good response,” she said.

“We moved down here so we could have more foot traffic,” Chantell Irvin said.

Alliss and Chantell Irvin encourage Perry residents to come check out what the store has to offer, from clothes to food to jewelry and home decor items.

“I love bargain shopping. I have seven children, that’s where I go to find a bargain,” Chantell Irvin said of thrift stores.

She added that they price the items for sale as what they would pay themselves. Alliss said they have a lot of merchandise coming in that they will be rotating in and out.

“It’s always something fresh and new, which makes them want to come back,” Chantell Irvin said.

Finder’s Keepers Thrift Store is open from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays.
