2. Woodward Friends & Neighbors Day

5-8:30 p.m. Friday, June 8 and 7 a.m. to 9:45 p.m. Saturday, June 9 in Woodward.

The 2018 Woodward Friends and Neighbors Day is set for June 8 and 9. Friday’s activities include a beef burger supper, golf cart parade and a movie in the park. Saturday will feature a parade, inflatables, petting zoo, pie auction, Little Miss Woodward pageant, live music, beer garden and fireworks. 3. Free Health Fair

11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 9 at Perry Hy-Vee.

The Dallas County Hospital and Hy-Vee will host a free Health Fair on June 9. Free blood pressure checks, education on benefits and more will be offered through the fair.

4. Food Preservation 101

1:30 p.m. Sunday, June 10 at Forest Park Museum.

Don’t know what to do with your excess garden produce? Want to learn how to preserve food safety at home? Come to this fun class about home canning, dehydrating and freezing foods taught by a registered dietitian trained in safe preservation techniques. This class will help beginners decide which methods of food preservation are affordable and practical for them. Experienced home food preservers will learn the latest recommendations. You’ll go home with a wealth of recipes and “how-to” instructions. No hands-on food preservation will be don in class. Class participants will examine and discuss recommended home preservation equipment and sample dried fruit. The class is $2 and registration is required. For more information, call 515-465-3577.

5. Ice Cream Social

4-7 p.m. Sunday, June 10 at Rippey United Methodist Church.

An ice cream social featuring sandwiches, pie and drinks will be held on June 10 at Rippey United Methodist Church.
