Mark Parmenter, 54, of Elkhart was arrested on April 20 and charged with two counts of assault with intent to commit sexual abuse and one count of invasion of privacy.
Parmenter was arrested on a warrant served by the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office on April 20. He made his initial court appearance on April 20 and entered a plea of not guilty.
Parmenter, the father of Eric Parmenter, 28, of Ankeny, is accused of assaulting the same victim as his son. Eric Parmenter is accused of sexually assaulting a girl under the age of 18 on four separate occasions between 2008 and 2010.
Mark Parmenter is accused of assault with intent to commit sexual abuse and invasion of privacy on the same victim on three occasions in June and July 2010 in Perry.
According to online court documents, the first incident occurred between June 1 and June 30, 2010.
The criminal complaint stated that Parmenter entered a bedroom in his residence where the victim was taking a nap. The complaint went on to say that Parmenter “untied the top of her bikini and began massaging her.” When the victim woke up, the complaint said that Parmenter would not let her retie her bikini. He then moved the massage down her body without her consent.
The second incident occurred between July 1 and July 31, 2010. The criminal complaint stated that Parmenter opened the bathroom door and pulled back the shower curtain, exposing the victim’s body without her consent.
The third incident occurred between July 1 and July 30, 2010. The criminal complaint said that Parmenter invited the victim to come over and watch a movie with himself and his young grandson. When the victim arrived, the grandson was not present. The complaint said Parmenter invited the victim to stay to watch the movie with him.
During the movie, the complaint said Parmenter “pulled the victim down into a laying position and continuously grabbed the victim’s breasts” without her consent.
Parmenter will have a pre-trial conference on May 25. A jury trial date has been set for July 2.
