On Saturday, Dec. 2, the town of Woodward celebrated the holiday season by an intimate lighted tree event, followed by a visit from Santa Claus. Families were later invited to move to the Social Center where Woodward Lions Club members offered treats, drinks, and free children’s books.

“The town does the Santa and the Lions Club just kind of got involved,” said President of Woodward’s Lions Club, Sandra Dickson. “With Santa coming and then providing drinks and it’s something that evolved.

“With the Tour of Homes tomorrow, it’ll be a nice touch.”

Lions Club members provided attendees with hot chocolate, lemonade, cookies, goodie bags, and free books. Lion members were easily identified by their reindeer antlers at the event.

“We do the goodie bags for Santa and then we do the books – that’s a big thing with us, whatever we do, we have books out and give them to children,” Dickson said.

Santa Claus arrived to the event in a fire truck and departed around 7 p.m. Saturday evening.
