Due to the winter’s snowpack, saturated ground and forecasted rainfall, the water level at Saylorville Lake is on the rise. Many areas are still closed for the winter and will remain closed until the water recedes and maintenance crews can safely clean the area. The areas closed include: Cherry Glen Sledding Hill and Boat Ramp, Lakeview Sledding Hill and Boat Ramps, Oak Grove Beach Access, Sandpiper Recreation Area, NW Jester Park Drive and Control Tower Road. Please obey all gates, signs and barricades as they are placed for your safety.
With rising water levels while there is still ice on the lake, visitors are advised to stay away from the shoreline and off of the ice. Rain, warm temperatures and water currents under the ice significantly weaken the ice. Please keep an eye on your children and pets and observe from a distance. If there are areas with water across the road or trail, do not attempt to proceed through it. Turn around and find an alternate route.
Visitors may receive current information regarding the status of all recreation areas by calling the lake information number at 515-276-0433. Lake level information and predictions can be accessed at www.rivergages.com. Saylorville Lake is in the Rock Island District, Des Moines River Basin.
