DENTON, TX. — Former Perry resident Brad Stracke, now the men’s golf coach at the University of North Texas, was recently named Sun Belt Conference Coach of the Year. He is the son of Don and Martha Stracke of Perry.
Stracke is the first Mean Green coach to win the award since 1999, picking up the fourth such honor in program history. He is the only coach in school history to coach two four-time all-conference players.
The Mean Green, who competed in the NCAA Regionals this spring, was ranked 143rd when Stracke joined the program in December of 2009. They were ranked 28th at the end of last season.
