JEFFERSON — Perry placed fifth with 166 points at the Iowa West Swim Conference meet Saturday. Carroll won the IWSC team title with 315 points, with Jefferson second at 300. Denison was third at 177 and Guthrie Center fourth at 177, with Perry (166), Sac City (148), Glidden (76), Lake City Area (50), Manning (48) and Coon Rapids (45) rounding out the field.
Laura Finneseth (15-18) was involved, either individually or as a relay member, in four first-place finishes and also had a second-place finish, with Haileigh Kenyon (15-18) winning three times and placing third once while Shaleah Ewing (15-18) had three wins and Serenity Ewing and Taylor Wieland (both 15-18) one win apiece. Also claiming a conference title for the Perry girls was Stephanie Hill (11-12), who also placed second once and third twice.
In the girls 13-14 group, Haley Vaughn was second four times and third once, with Caley Hager second twice and third twice while Sadee Whitfield had two runner-up finishers. Elise Hill and Hannah York were both second one time for Perry.
Perry also received third-place points from 11-12 swimmers Zowie Strough, Sarah Vaughn and Dannah Karolus.
The Perry boys did not post a win, but Devon Archer, Luke Holtorf, Alex Thompson and Caleb Winey were second in the medley relay. Archer had an additional runner-up finish and placed third once, with Winey also placing third in one race.
Third-place points were also scored by 9-10 swimmers Khyler Carstarphen, Riese Archer, Andrew Dowd and Dylan Winey, with Michael Reuter (15-18) placing third in one event.
The meet ended the PSST careers of two seniors: Finneseth and Reuter, both of whom have enjoyed long and successful tenures with the team.
