The wait lasted until Jan. 9, but the Perry wrestlers were finally able to host a home event, with the Bluejays entertaining Carroll and Mt. Ayr for a triangular.

Carroll topped Perry, 52-30, in the opening dual, with the Bluejays capping the evening with a 45-30 win over Mt. Ayr after the Tigers had topped the Raiders (score n/a) in the second of the three duals.

Perry won just two of the 11 contested matches against Carroll, with Ivan Garcia pinning Dylan Feauto in 5 minutes, 21 seconds at 126 pounds while Eli Saemisch pinned Brady Bender in 46 seconds at 170.

The remaining Perry points came from forfeits to Htwar Reh (106), Fernando Catalan (113) and Kade VanKirk (120).

Saemisch also had a pin against Mt. Ayr, nailing Jacob Vanbuskirk in 1:10 after Kaleb Carstarphen had pinned Jeremy Vanbuskirk in 33 ticks at 160 pounds. Kevin Lopez made it three consecutive pins for the Jays by putting Logan Stark’s shoulders to the mat in 2:11.

Gisaveri Niyibizi aided the Perry cause by pinning Trevor Anderson in 2 minutes at 126, with Richie Cazares scoring a pinfall victory over Grant Staats in 2:16 at 132 while VanKirk had scored a 5-2 decision against Dawson Knapp at 120.

Perry also received points for forfeits to Reh (106) and Jorge Soto (220).

The Bluejays host their annual invitational Saturday and will entertain Carlisle and WCV Thursday before competing in the Williamsburg Invitational Jan. 25.
