ROLAND — Perry was scheduled to play twice last Friday and twice Saturday at the Roland-Story Tournament, but steady rain limited the Jayettes to just their first slated contest.

Fortunately for the Jayettes, they were able to counter a 3-2 deficit with four runs in the bottom of the third inning and two more in the fifth to score an 8-3 win over Madrid.

Katelyn Whelchel, Kylie Brandt and Alexa Gilmore had two hits apiece for Perry, with Lindsey Kunch, Frankie Eklund, Katie England and Rachel Kinney also contributing hits. Whelchel, Kunch and Brandt all smacked doubles in the win.

Emma Olejniczak allowed four hits and issued five walks in gathering the win. She yielded three runs (two earned) and struck out three.

Sarah Kleinwort suffered the loss for Madrid after allowing six runs (four earned) on seven hits and four walks in four innings while Shelby Larson surrendered two runs on three hits and a walk in two frames of relief.
