Perry gave sixth-ranked Ballard all the Bombers could handle before falling, 2-1, in Raccoon River Conference softball at the PAC June 27.

The Jayettes (9-18, 2-11) were on the board early, with Frankie Eklund singling home Lindsey Kunch in first inning.

Ballard scored both of their runs in the top of the fifth, with Annie Stolte and Alex Petersen providing RBI hits to score Ellie Godwin and Gabbie Doud. Godwin finished with three hits, including a double, with Doud adding a double.

Kenzie Ihle earned the win, allowing one run on five hits and two walks while striking out seven.

Emma Olejniczak suffered the loss despite limiting the guests to two runs on nine hits and two walks. She struck out eight.

Kunch, Katelyn Whelchel, Julie Diw and Alexa Gilmore also had hits for Perry, with Kunch and Whelchel each drawing a walk.

3A No. 6 B-F 14, PERRY 3 (5)

Bondurant-Farrar pounded Perry pitching for 14 hits, of which six were doubles and one a home run, in a 14-3 five-inning RRC win at the PAC June 26.

The Lady Jays scored four times in the second inning and added six runs in the fourth to threaten a quick ending to the game, but, to their credit, the Jayettes refused to be blanked and plated three runs in their half of the fourth.

Unfortunately for the hosts, four additional runs in the top of the fifth and a scoreless bottom of the stanza forced the 10-run rule into effect.

Kylie Brandt had a double and two RBIs for Perry, with Olejniczak driving in a run. Kunch, Eklund, Diw and Katie England added base hits for the hosts, with Eklund, Diw and England scoring the Jayette runs.

Olejniczak surrendered 10 runs (eight earned) on eight hits and three walks in 3-1/3 frames. Gilmore threw 1-1/3 innings of relief, allowing four runs on six hits.

Keely Bycroft collected the win. She yielded three runs on five hits and two walks in five innings in the ring.

Caley Schlenker led the B-F attack with three hits, with Ashley Burrows, Sam Koehn and Annike Ekstam adding two hits apiece. All had one double, with Erin Sawatzky and Erin Handley providing doubles while Tatum Ksiazek hit a three-run home run.

PERRY 12, DM NORTH 1 (6)

DES MOINES — Brandt had two doubles and three RBIs, with Eklund and England both adding three hits apiece as Perry blasted Des Moines North, 12-1, in six innings June 25.

England had three RBIs and Eklund two, with the latter joined by Gilmore in recording a two-base hit.

Perry held a slim 2-1 lead after three innings but broke the game open with five runs in the fifth frame and five more in the sixth.

The offensive outburst was more than enough for Olejniczak, who allowed one run on three hits and two walks while striking out two in picking up the pitching victory.

Reagan Clay surrendered 12 runs on 12 hits and three walks while striking out two. Nine of the Jayette runs were unearned.
