WOODWARD — The Woodward-Granger volleyball team swept Panorama, 3-0, in West Central Conference action Tuesday behind scores of 25-18, 25-6 and 25-20.
W-G (14-13, 5-1) was hosting a "Pink Out" to help raise funds and awareness for breast cancer and other cancer research. The team offered bids to those in attendance on ace serves, and when the match was over the 12 total aces served by the Hawks helped to raise nearly $200.
Junior Abby Musser reached a career milestone by topping the 1,000 mark in career digs. The school record holder in the category, her 14 digs against the Panthers (1-18, 1-6) moved her to 1,005 in three years of varsity play. Bree Lesch had 10 digs and Tori Manning seven for the Hawks in the win.
The school mark of total blocks in a single match was tied as well, as Abby Hansen matched the 2012 record of Maddie Bardole with seven blocks against the Panthers.
Musser finished with 10 kills, with Olivia McCune making seven kills, Mary Hansen six, Lesch three and Abby Hansen two. Mary Hansen and Dalaney Bice had two blocks apiece, with McCune recording one block while Maggie Bermel provided 12 assists and Mary Hansen 10.
Mary Hansen served 15-of-17 with three aces, with McCune 12-13-2 and Bermel 12-12-1 while Musser was 10-12-2, Manning 10-10-2 and Lesch 9-11-2 behind the line.
W-G returns to action Monday when the host Earlham. The Hawks will play in the Perry Invite Tuesday, travel to Guthrie Center Thursday and cap their regular season Oct. 19 with the W-G Invite.
