Perry volleyball saw a quick turnaround after they had a tournament on Monday followed by a home match against Carroll. The Jayettes fell to their visitors in three sets, 25-16, 25-11, and 25-14.
Head Coach John Fulton says the energy from Monday night’s match was carried over into the first set against Carroll.
“We passed well, and we stayed with their (Carroll’s) hitters,” Coach Fulton said. “They are a fast offensive team and we were able to keep up with them so that was good to see right away from that first set.”
Nevitt had similar praise for her and her team’s performance against the 18-10 team.
“Carroll is very good and they have three hitters that are ranked above me,” said Nevitt. “But I would say we put up a good fight (against Carroll).”
There were plenty of digs on the Jayettes’ side of the net with a total of 26. Eight of those came from Jasmine Shriver who also racked up four kills. Eight of the teams total kills of 15 came from Kacy Nevitt who also came out of the match with three digs and one block assists.
Four digs against Carroll came from Magley Orellana who also managed to get in one kill against Perry’s opponent. Peyton Tunink came in with one kill of her own and Gabby West ended the evening with two digs. Quinn Whiton showed her strength once again in this match by getting one kill and six digs to finish the evening.
The Jayette netters will be at Winterset for their next match on Tuesday, Oct. 2nd beginning at 7 p.m.
