Perry Swim had a dual meet this week when they hosted Boone and Algona to take home one win against Algona, 75-74, and one loss against Boone 97-59.
In the 200 Medley Relay the foursome of Jaylene Karolus, Anna Ridnour, Abby Herman, and Amanda Holwegner placed third against Boone and second against Algona. Another group saw the same placement on Perry’s side when the 200 Freestyle Relay team placed third against Boone and second against Algona. That group was made up of Dannah Karolus, Amanda Holwegner, Anna Ridnour, and Abby Herman.
Sarah Vaughn placed second across both of the opposing teams in the 200 Freestyle, and Dannah Karolus placed first in her first time swimming this event in her high school career. To add to the first places, Anna Ridnour took home the gold in the 200 IM against Algona and second against Boone.
A personal best time was racked up for Abby Herman when she placed second against Algona in the 50 Free, while Jaylene Karolus placed first in the 100 Butterfly against both Boone and Algona in her first time swimming this event in her high school career.
Avery Miner placed fourth in 100 Freestyle against Boone and third against Algona while Dannah Karolus placed secnd against Boone, and first against Algona.
Sarah Vaughn saw more success in the 500 Freestyle when she placed second against Boone and first against Algona. Avery Miner competed in the 100 Backstroke and ended fourth against Boone and second against Algona. Jaylene Karolus also swam in this event and came out first against both Boone and Algona.
Amanda Holwegner was in the 100 Breaststroke and ended third against Boone and Algona, while Anna Ridnour ended second against both teams.
One more first placement was given out in the 400 Freestyle Relay when Abby Herman, Sarah Vaughn, Jaylene Karolus, and Dannah Karolus placed first against Algona. That same group placed second against Boone in the same event.
The next swim meet will be at home on Tuesday, Sept. 11 starting at 6:30 p.m. The Perry swimmers will take on Storm Lake.
