As Fall draws nearer the construction crew and Larson Engineering continue to add to the renovations at Dewey Field.

The most recent addition came on Friday, July 13 when the newly constructed press box was installed via crane to the top of the home side bleachers. Although the field will still contain the initial press box seen atop the south side bleachers, the newest one will adopt the title of the Harold Bailey Press Box.

Perry Athletic Director Tom Lipovac says the new press box will be a good way to continue honoring Harold Bailey.

“It’s a great way to recognize [Bailey] having served the community for so long and the new press box will be a significant upgrade,” Lipovac said.

Harold Bailey was a Perry High School graduate and renowned sports journalist and editor within the community for over 50 years. The initial and now the new press box is dedicated to honor his work and achievements within the community.

The upgraded press box contains two separate compartments for the visiting and home coaching staffs as well as a central area for the Perry staff to operate the scoreboard. There are also designated areas for local and visiting media within the press box.

Dewey Field is set to officially open in late August.
