The Woodward-Granger 2018 baseball season came to a close on Tuesday, July 10 after the Hawks fought hard in the second round of the regional tournament, but lost 3-6 against Ogden.
The game started off strong for both teams when Worth Henry hit a single, stole second, and ran home on a Reese Jamison double. Later Jamison was able to score another run for the Hawks.
The only other run of the game for the Hawks came in the top of the seventh. Bryce Achenbach was able to make it to first base on an error and soon stole second. Before the game was over Jamison hit a single that brought Achenbach home.
The mound saw effort from more than one player. Pitching first was Brandon Worley followed by Cole Theisen. Theisen was able to end the game with two strikeouts and only two Ogden runs.
Head Coach Eric Evans said he thinks his team gave a lot of effort in this game.
“You never want to give up four [runs], but Cole Theisen came out and pitched until the end,” Coach Evans said. “Manufacturing a run at the end says a lot about what we have got inside. We didn’t just give up.”
Woodward-Granger baseball ended their season with a 19-9 record.
