The Hawks traveled to Stuart on Thursday to take on West Central Valley in a doubleheader. Woodward-Granger headed back home that evening with double victories under their belt. The first game ended with 9-5 and game two 5-2.


Three pitchers got the chance to show their talent on the mound in game one, starting with Cole Theisen. In the first four innings Theisen pitched six hits, three base on balls and two strikeouts. For the following two innings Caden Easter stepped up to get the win with two strikeouts, one hit and no runs. Alex Bice pitched the last inning of the game with one run out of three hits and no base on balls.


Brandon Worley, Bryce Achenbach, Reese Jamison and Joe Rhodes each scored one run for the Hawks, along with three RBIs from Rhodes. Matt Buch also contributed one RBI before game one was over.


Theisen added two runs and an RBI to the scoreboard himself while Pacey Moats had the game high of three runs.


The second game saw the same amount of runs from the Hawks with four scored in the fourth inning.


Jay Dorenkamp struck out three WCV batters in six innings with only two earned runs and four base on balls. Bice took over from there and pitched no base on balls with one hit.


Jamison, Theisen, Worley, Nick Brummond and Jack Grell each ran one point in with two RBIs coming from Grell and one RBI from Theisen.


Woodward-Granger baseball is now 13-4 overall. The Hawks will play at home on Friday evening against Winterset beginning at 7 p.m. followed by another at-home game against Madrid on Monday, June 25.
