A final round and career best of 93 closed out Hawks’ junior Cierra DeHoet’s golf season with a 28th place finish at the State Tournament.

The junior jumped up two spots after finishing 30th overall during the opening round on May 29 at the American Legion Course in Marshalltown.

On the first day of the Class 1A Girls State Golf Tournament, DeHoet recorded a round of 96 (49-47) with four pars, seven bogeys, four doubles and three triples or above.

She improved her first day score by three strokes when she finished the second round with a 93. She had a birdie, five pars, three bogeys, seven doubles and two triples or more.

After three rain delays on the first day, Dehoet was looking at placing 30th. She managed to climb up two places to 28th on the final day of competition.

“Her 93 was her competitive low round of her career,” head coach David Comb said. “She did a great job yesterday battling a tough start and finishing the round strong. Her round was highlighted by a great birdie on the tough par 4 12th hole.”
