A day filled with a number of track & field events, ended for the Woodward-Granger Hawks with four teams qualifying for the state tournament.


Three team events and one female individual filled the roster spots after the May 10 event, hosted at the Van Meter fields.


The 4x800 team of Emma Drake, Katelyn Peters, Ava Peterson and Anna Tague earned the school’s lone first place finish when they finished with a time of 10:02.60.


That same team with Kayley Dresback and without Peters, recorded second place in the 4x400 with a finish time of 4:16.16.


Their colleagues from the boys 4x400 team also nabbed second place. Bryce Achenbach, Chandler Cavanaugh, Ian Thompson, and Josh Saak ran a 3:33.79.


Peters was the school’s only individual qualifier when she finished the 100-meter run with a time of 5:25.10, for third place.


Overall for the girls, Panorama with 187 took first, followed by AC/GC’s 102, and in third was Mount Ayr (93). Four through five was the host Van Meter (80), W-G (49) and West Central Valley (48).


In seventh was I-35, Truro (39), eighth was Pleasantville (38), and ninth was Colfax-Mingo (37). DSM Christian DMC (30), Clarke (29), and Woodward Academy (3), placed 10-12.


The boys’ squads saw the host Bulldogs in first with 120 points. Pleasantville’s 88 and AC/GC’s 83 were second and third.


DSM Christian (74), Panorama (73), and Woodward Academy (60) went four, five and six. Seven through nine were WCV (58), Mount Ayr (47), and I-35, Truro (43). Rounding out 10-12 were Clarke (38), W-Granger (37) and Colfax-Mingo (20).
