Perry’s own, senior Sidney Vancil, will compete at this season’s state tournament after placing third in the 400-meter run with a personal best time of 1:02.60. She will also compete in the 800, after previously qualifying.
At the 2017-2018 qualifying meet in Alleman, the Jayettes finished up their season seventh overall with a combined 50 points.
Although, not being able to partake in the Des Moines event, many other Jayettes posted top three finishes and personal best times at the May 10, competition.
Both senior Grace Stewart and the 800-medley relay team of Vancil, Kennedy Tunink, Quinn Whiton and Jasmine Shriver, finished third. Stewart in the 3000 with a time of 11:25.29. The latter ran a 1:57.66.
Other highlights included Jasmine Shriver and her personal best time of 28.04 in the 200 for fourth place. Whiton recorded a PB in the 100 with a time of 13.69.
Overall, DC-G (169.5), Carlisle (150.5), and the host Comets (127.5) finished in the top three. Norwalk (97), Ballard (59.5), Bondurant-Farrar (46) and Saydel (31) finished fourth, fifth, seventh and eighth.
