Six Perry Bluejays are making plans to head south this coming Thursday, May 17, when they partake at this season’s track & field state tournament.

At North Polk in Alleman, the Perry squad not only earned their way to the big show, but three of their total six qualifying finishes for first place.

The 4x400 and 1600-medley relay teams recorded the top spots, along with senior Brandon Kenyon who edged out the first place win in the 800 at the May 10, event.

Perry’s next first place victory came from Kenyon, Kaleb Olejniczak, Zachary Thompson and Reece Dunlap when this squad ran a (PB) 3:30.22 in the 4x400.

That same team minus Dunlap but plus Kato Dougan, scored first place in the 1600-medley relay with their (PB) time of 3:44.30.

In the 800-medley relay, Dougan, Olejniczak, Dunlap and Kenyon finished second overall with a time of (PB) time of 1:35.84. Dunlap also scored second place in the 400 with his time of 53.23.
