A combined score of 214 placed the Perry Jayettes golfers in third place at this season’s Witmer-Dunphy Invitational.
The host finished one stroke behind second place, the North Polk Comets. First place went to the Gilbert Tigers, who shot a 180. West Hancock placed fourth with a 256.
At the Perry Golf and Country Club, the Jayettes sent out five golfers, Alyssa Kruger, Molly Lutmer, Delaney Eiteman, Skylar Cunningham, and Hannah Roberts for a chance to win the April 23, event.
As it’s been the norm this season, Kruger led her squad with a 9-hole round of 42. She finished with a birdie, three pars, four bogeys, and a double on the par-4 seventh.
Lutmer was a close second with a 48. Eiteman shot a 57 and the final score came from Cunningham who shot a 67. Roberts score wasn’t counted.
“Hannah Roberts disqualified over a scorecard error,” head coach Joel Happel noted.
The squad heads about 15 minutes east on April 26, for a showdown against the Hawks of Woodward-Granger.
