A combined 9-hole round of 221 placed the women golfers of Woodward-Granger in first place at their latest West Central Activities Conference meet.


At the Woodward Golf and Country Club, Hawks’ senior Cierra DeHoet not only led her squad in strokes, but her overall 47 earned her medalist honors. She finished her day with a par, five bogeys, and three doubles.


Teammate Emma Greiner was second on the team with a 55. Aubrey Mescher shot a 58 and Emily Trewet’s 61 was the squad’s final counted score. Bailey Thompson (81) and Megan Burkhart (64) also participated.


The Earlham Cardinals (283) finished the April 24, meet in second place and fellow visitors, the Tigers of Madrid were third. Their score wasn’t counted due to insufficient players.


It was a fourth place finish on April 23, as the same squad combined for a round of 252 at the Lake Panorama National Golf Course.


The Ogden Bulldogs finished first with a 215. Two strokes back were the Lions of Des Moines Christian, while the host Panorama Panthers placed third with a 229.


In fifth with a 264 were the Earlham Cardinals, in sixth were the AC/GC Chargers (297), while the Madrid Tigers with only three players, finished eighth with a 298. Panorama’s JV team shot a 294.


For the second straight game, DeHoet led the squad with a 54. Mescher shot a 62, Greiner a 67, Trewet a 69, Burkhart a 79, and Thompson a 97.


It’s been a busy week for the golf squad who were also in action on Thursday, April 19, when they finished second at a home invitational.


The four golfers played another 9-holes where they finished with a combined 247. DeHoet continued her leadership role with a round of 58.


Nipping at her heels was Mescher who finished two strokes back with a 60. Greiner’s 64 and Trewet’s 65 once again made up the final two scores. Burkhart (76) and Thompson (83) were also in action.


The Panthers took the top spot with a 215, while the Chargers finished last after only sending out thee players.
