The Perry Bluejays finished their 9-hole round at the Pleasantville Country Club tied with Carlisle for second place with a score of 197. Bondurant-Farrar took first with a 171.
At the April 10, event, the Bluejays, found themselves having a hard time putting together consistent drives, but still managed to turn in some solid scores.
“We had a rough time of it out there in Pleasantville,” head coach John Fulton said. “Each of the boys had one or two bad holes that inflated those scores a little bit, but other than those holes they played pretty good golf.”
The duo of Connor Nielsen and Luke Rathje finished up their day tied with a round of 47. Tanner Duffy was a stroke behind with a 48, and Emilio Gonzalez’s score of 54 rounded out the top four scores. Kyle Lockwood turned in a 59.
After recording a plus 5 on the first hole, Nielsen bounced with a birdie, two pars, tow bogeys a double and one triple.
Despite a tough fifth hole where he finished with a plus seven, Rathje had a solid outing. He finished his day with six pars, a bogey and a double.
“We just need to limit those big numbers that can let a round get away from us,” Fulton said.
The boys will look to get on the fairway on Monday, April 16, when they travel to West Marshall.
