Both Woodward-Granger Hawks golf squads put their clubs to use at their latest road meets on Tuesday, April 10.


The Hawks’ boys finished their 9-hole round at Saydel in third place with a 201. At Huxley, the girls put together a 282 for fourth place.


W-G’s Nick Brummond led the team with a round of 47. He finished his day with 3-pars, 3-bogeys, two doubles and one plus four.


Both Matt Buch and Hunter Pierce shot 51s, and Max Helbling rounded out the top four scores with a 52. Trey Lettow also shot a 52 and Nick Buch finished with a 54.


First place went to the host with a 189 and Colfax-Mingo’s round of 196 landed them in second place.


On the girls’ side, the Carroll took the top spot with a 188, Green County finished second with a 224, and the host were third with a 237.


Hawks’ Cierra DeHoet led her squad with a 9-hole round of 63. She tallied two doubles, five triples, a plus four and a plus five.


The other three scores came from Aubrey Mescher with a 65, Emma Greiner with a 70 and an 83 from Megan Burkhart. Emily Trewet also shot an 83.


The two teams are back at it on Thursday, April 12. The boys stay home as they host a number of teams at the Woodward Golf and Country Club. The girls travel to Adel to compete at the River Valley Golf Course.
