The Woodward-Granger track teams finished up last Thursday’s Cavanaugh Relays with the boys finishing fourth and the girls at sixth.


A total of 16 teams- eight for each squad- participated at the April 5 event hosted by the Hawks in Woodward. The boys tallied 98 points while the girls earned 38.


The boys squad recorded two team first place, three second place, and three third place finishes while the girls recorded had one team and two third place finishes.


Both the boys 1600 distance and 4x100 took first with the former recording a 3:56.38 and the latter with a time of 3:41.02. The girls 4x800 squad recorded the top spot with a personal best time of 10:46.69.


Ian Thompson, Brendan Bird and Keith Braunschweig each finished second. Thompson in the 800-meter, Bird in the discus throw and Braunschweig in the high jump.


Braunschweig also placed third in the 110 hurdles. The 4x100, 4x800 and 800 medley teams also finished third.


On the girls’ side, Chloe Davis placed third in the 400 hurdles while the 4x400 team also finished third with a personal best time of 4:34.29.


Overall, Bondurant-Farrar boys (132) and Dallas-Center Grimes girls (186) took the top spot. In second place were the Des Moines Christian boys (106) and Webster City girls (99).


Third place belonged to both Southeast Valley squads- boys (101) girls (94). The Perry girls (63) nabbed fourth, with the Bondurant-Farrar girls (61) and Perry boys in (71) fifth.


In sixth place were the Saydel boys (63) while the Des Moines Christian girls (34) and W-G’s junior varsity boys (10) finished seventh. The junior varsity squads from Bondurant-Farrar (girls-7) and Southeast Valley boys (8) finished eighth.
