Another triumphant road trip for the Perry Area Swim Team who welcomed seven more swimmers to the long list of state and regional qualifiers.

This past Saturday, Feb. 24, in Knoxville, Iowa, PAWS added Aleah Karolus (8), Payton Lundgren (9), Emily Dowd (11) and Jaylene Karolus (13) to the state qualifying roster.

The other three qualifiers, 11-year-olds Quin Mahler-Moreno, and Sophia McDevitt along with 14-year old Andrew Dowd hit regional qualifying times.

As she’s been doing all season long, parent volunteer Stacy Vaughn posted a congratulatory message on the PAWS Facebook account.

“The PAWS swimmers worked hard to earn more QTs (qualifying times) for both state and regionals! Congrats to state qualifiers,” she wrote.

Along with qualifying, three PAWS swimmers also recorded first place finishes. Aleah won her 25 -yard meet with a time of 21.28, McDevitt swam a 2:18.39 in the 200-freestyle event and Jaylene tied for first in the 100 freestyle with a time of 1:05.33.

About eight seconds behind McDevitt’s time in the 200 freestyle was Moreno who earned second place with a 2:26.18.
