Perry’s wrestling team finished off their Thursday night in perfect style after winning both matches of their road triangular.
At Fort Dodge on Dec. 14, the Bluejays started off the competition with a 48-30 win over fellow visitors the Carroll Tigers. The Bluejays recorded six pin fall wins with the other 12 points coming in the form of forfeits.
Jacob Nelson (132) began the Bluejays’ night with the squad’s first victory when he pinned Kamben Robinson 25 seconds into the second period.
After a Perry loss, Zach Stewart (145) put the team back in points column when he pinned Will Meiners at the 4:29 mark.
Perry then suffered two losses before stringing together four wins in five matches including three straight.
Cole Snyder (170) subdued Kaleb Johnson with six seconds to go before extended time. Cesar Ramirez followed with a first period victory over Ian Bornhoft.
The final competitive victories came first from Jonathan Silva’s (195) win over Evan Wernimont and ended with Alexander Tapia’s (285) victory over Seth Deets.
It was a lopsided 58-12 win over the host St. Edmond Catholic Gaels as Perry recorded nine six point victories - all forfeits - and one major decision.
The four point MD belonged to Nelson who managed to keep Noah Carlson at bay to earn the 11-2 win.
Perry travels to Waukee this Saturday where they join a slew of teams at this season’s Al Garrison Duals.
