Woodward-Granger’s wrestling team completed the trifecta undefeated when they finished 3-0 in their duals at Perry High School.
On Tuesday night the Hawks overwhelmed both the Montezuma Braves 63-18 and the Ogden Bulldogs 66-9, and doubled up the host Bluejays 24-25.
In their match versus the Braves the W-G grapplers recorded 10 six point victories - eight forfeits and two pinfalls, and one decision.
After two forfeits, W-G’s Hunter Pierce (106) scored a quick 28 second pinfall victory over Kodie Strong.
Teammate Jay Dorenkamp (138) earned the team’s next competitive win when he won a 12-8 decision over Ben Jorgenson.
Austin Scharlau (152) followed a couple of places later and earned the Hawks’ final pinfall win of the match against Jacob Facile.
It was almost all pinfall wins against the Bulldogs as the team recorded 10 of them with only two coming from forfeits, another two from decisions.
Three different Hawks, Pierce, Tyler Lawrenson (285) and Dilynn Lewiston (113) each earned back to back to back under a minute pinfall wins.
Pierce pinned Dominic Degeneffe in 27 seconds. Lawrenson took 39 seconds against Bryant Dutcher, and Lewiston beat Owen Van Cannon in 39 seconds.
W-G’s Kade Polich (182), Payton Tague (126), Colt Palmer (132), Cole Carman (145) and Gabe Yingst (160) each added pinfall victories. Both Cody Fisher (182) and Cale Pritchett (170) recorded decision victories.
All of the Hawks points against the Bluejays came in the form of pinfalls or forfeits wins with seven grapplers earning pins.
Lawrenson, Pierce, Polich, Fisher, Scharlau, Dillon Fogarty (220) and Cole Snyder (170) were responsible for 49 points with four Hawks ending their matches in under 60 seconds.
The Hawks are off until Saturday, Dec. 9, when they make the long trip to Webster City for another varsity Duals.
