It was a tough night for Perry’s basketball program as both the Bluejays and Jayettes suffered losses against Dallas Center-Grimes.
In Grimes on Tuesday night, Dec. 5, the Jayettes (1-5) couldn’t seem to get the offense going against a Fillies (3-1) team that put up 50 points.
The Jayettes were outscored 10-2 in the first, 14-2 in the second, 13-8 in the third and 13-2 in the final quarter for a final 50-14 loss.
It marks the fifth straight defeat for a Jayettes team who last recorded a victory in their home debut on Nov. 17.
For the Bluejays (1-3) the offense struggled for the first two quarters as they were outscored 18-5 in the first, and then 22-10 before the half.
After halftime the Bluejays held the Mustangs (3-1) to 11 points while posting 16 points and cutting the deficit to 51-31.
But the Mustangs responded in the fourth quarter with a 20-12 run that gave the road team their third loss in a row after opening up the season with a win.
Both Perry teams now have two days to work on their game plan before Friday’s home matchup versus Raccoon River Conference foe the Carlisle Wildcats.
