The Perry Jayettes’ swim team recorded a .500 finish with a win versus the Williamsburg Raiders but suffered a loss against the host Grinnell Tigers.
Perry dominated the Raider by over 30 points in a 97-64 victory. Unfortunately for the Jayettes the Tigers beat them by 35 points, 107-72. Grinnell also beat the Raiders 118-79.
Six individual Perry swimmers ended their Tuesday night competitions in with personal best times ad two overall first place finishers.
Senior Breanna Penenger controlled the water in the 500 freestyle where she recorded a first place personal best time of 6:00.55. Sarah Vaughn finished second overall with her personal best time of 6:13.57.
Fellow Jayette Dannah Karolus padded her 200 IM time once again with a personal best time of 2:37.95 for first place overall. Abby Herman placed third against both teams with a personal best time of 2:52.68.
It was a first place finish for Perry senior Vivian Gonzalez in the 100 backstroke against the Raiders her personal best of 1:18.39. Her time was third against the host.
The Jayettes’ Avery Miner joined Gonzalez in that meet where she posted her own best time of 1:23.79 for a second place finish against the Raiders but fourth versus the Tigers.
It would be a short week for the Jayettes who will dive back into action this Thursday when they travel to Des Moines North for a meet versus the Polar Bears.
