The Perry Jayettes’ volleyball team suffered their six Raccoon River Conference loss on a series sweep against the Winterset Huskies.
At home on Tuesday the Jayettes (3-18, 0-6) came up short in their first set which steamrolled their possible chances versus the Huskies (9-10, 1-5).
In their three game series sweep loss the Jayettes looked like they had a shot at a possible victor after only coming up six points short in the first set, 25-19.
It would be a different outcome during set two play when the Huskies held the home team’s offense in check with a 25-9 outcome.
Perry fought back in the third match in hopes of extending play to a fourth set, but that would not be the case as the Huskies eventually claimed a 25-16 victory.
Individually Perry senior Johanna Diw continued her team leading 114 kills with another eight in 42 attempts and she recorded three total blocks - one assist and two solos.
Fellow senior Sidney Vancil also continued to tally double digit assists with a team leading 12, and teammate Sydney Guerra recorded 11 digs. Adriana Eastman finished second with 10.
As a team the squad finished 40-of-44 in serves for a 90 percent serve efficiency, with 16 aces, 15 assists, five total blocks - two assists, three solo, and one ace.
The Jayettes will look to bounce back this coming Thursday when they host Saydel, Ballard, Woodward-Granger and Roland-Story in this season’s Varsity Jayette Tournament.
