The traditional Leon Fox Invitational, named after Perry’s beloved head coach, saw the host Jayettes finish eighth while the Bluejays placed ninth.
A total of 23 teams - 12 boys and 11 girls - laced up their running shoes at the Perry Golf and Country Club for a chance at the top spot.
The Bondurant-Farrar Bluejays napped first place with 41 points while the Creston girls tallied 50 points in their first place win.
In second place were the girls from Winterset with 73 points and the Roland-Story and A.D.M. boys tied for second with 76 points each. The girl’s third spot went to Madrid with 114.
For the Jayettes senior Grace Stewart came in seventh overall just under 22 minutes at 21:58. Sophomore Hannah Peterson placed 50th and freshman Cris Gomez followed at 52nd.
The Bluejays’ senior Zach Stewart crossed first at 30th overall with a time of 19:07. Junior Mario Cruz followed in 45th place and senior Zach Stewart rounded out the first three Perry finishers at 50th.
Teammates Eduardo Sanchez placed (53), Eli Noble (67), Hayden McFarland (69), and Aaron Lockwood (70).
On the Jayettes’ side Julissa Calderon finished (58), Molly Lutmer, (62), Sophie Prombo (70), and Angela Hernandez (71)
Rounding out the final female team finishes was A.D.M (4th), Greene County (5th), Roland-Story (6th), Bondurant-Farrar (7th), Boone (9th), Kuemper Catholic (10th) and North High School (11th).
For the male squads, Madrid notched fourth, Winterset (5th), Kuemper Catholic (6th), Saydel (7th), Boone (8th), Des Moines North (10th), Creston (11th) and Green County (12th).
