Last night was their first night with a new rotation and the Perry volleyball team was still trying to find out what their best match up was, Jayettes’ head volleyball coach John Fulton said last week after losing to the Lady Jays.

Unfortunately for the head coach and his players the new look rotation still haven’t worked out their kinks when they faced off against the Carroll Tigers (9-18, 2-1).

On Tuesday night on the road at Carroll High School the Perry Jayettes (3-17, 0-5) suffered another RRC loss as the host won in three straight sets.

The Jayettes hung in during their first set where they only dropped it by four points, 25-21. It would be a different story in the second set with a 25-21 loss and a nine point difference in the final set 25-16.

Perry senior Johanna Diw continued her team leading numbers in kills with 14 in 29 attempts. She was also 5-for-7 in serves.

The two “Sids,” Sidney Vancil and Sydney Guerra once again led the squad in assists and digs with Vancil assisting in 16 of them and Guerra tallying 18 digs.

Vancil was a perfect 8-for-8 on serves while Guerra finished her night in double digit serves successfully converting 10 of her 11 attempts.

Together the Jayettes were 46-of-51 on serves, with 20 assists, 35 digs one block and two aces.

Win or lose Fulton said last week after Tuesday’s match that he will continue to focus on every opportunity the squad utilizes for improvement.

“Our goal is to continue to go out and compete. We have a few more tournaments that will give us plenty of opportunities to improve as we enter this last part of the season,” Fulton said.

The team has another week to right the ship before they welcome in another RRC rival the Huskies from Winterset on Tuesday, Oct. 3.
