Perry’s volleyball team’s chance for their first Raccoon River Conference win was quickly derailed against the Ballard Bombers in three straight sets.

On the road at Huxley, the Jayettes (3-15, 0-3) could not dodge the Bombers’ (4-3, 3-0) game plan as they fell Tuesday night, 25-8, 25-15, and 25-19.

Perry’s seniors Johanna Diw and Isabel Saemisch combined for 14 of the squads 18 total kills. Diw led her teammates with nine on top of having six of the team’s 20 digs.

Teammate, senior Sydney Guerra accounted for a team lead eight digs while sophomore Magley Orellana had four.

The Jayettes’ assist total of 18 was mostly recorded by senior Sidney Vancil who tallied 12 by herself and Guerra had two.

As a team Perry finished with 88.2 percent serve efficiency after a 30-for-34 performance. They also had one block from freshman Kacy Nevitt and one ace from Guerra.

Up next the Jayettes will look for that elusive conference win when welcome into town the Lady Jays of Bondurant-Farrar on Tuesday, Sept. 19.
