A slew of Perry runners made their way to Winterset High School for a chance to test their times at this season’s invitational hosted by the Huskies.


In total the Bluejays and Jayettes cross country varsity team sent out a combined 22 runners -seven Jayettes and 15 Bluejays.


The first Perry runner to complete the 3.1 course was senior Zachary Thompson who finished with a time of 19:12. Teammate, junior Elijah Noble crossed 57 seconds later with a 20:09.


On the Jayettes side sophomore Hannah Peterson led her squad with a time of 26:05. A few steps behind was fellow Jayette, senior Julissa Calderon with a time of 26:15.


The top five Bluejays’ finishers were senior Zach Stewart finishing at 20:40, junior Mario Cruz at 20:46, and senior Aaron Lockwood at 21:06.


The rest of the squad included junior Benjamin Stika 22:46, senior Gabriel Ridnour 23:16, senior Miguel Gonzalez 24:15, senior Jacob Prombo 24:24, and junior Beau Nelson 25:19.


Sophomores Collin Malmberg 26:01, Chase Archer 27:07, senior Alex Thompson 27:39, freshman Kyle Lockwood 27:44 and junior Devin Carrillo 28:55 were the team’s final five.


Rounding out the last five Jayettes’ runners were junior Jacky Castaneda 27:28, sophomore Sophie Prombo 28:09, sophomore Angela Hernandez 28:30, junior Jocelyn Fuentes 29:32 and senior Darian McCord 30:29.
