Woodward-Granger’s volleyball team is back in familiar waters when they recorded their first West Central Activities Conference win, which put the team over .500 for the first time this season.

The Hawks (4-3, 1-0) wasted no time on Tuesday setting the tone for another possible WCAC title run after a three straight set victory over the host West Central Valley, Stuart Wild Cats (0-2,0-2).

In their first set the Hawks took the early lead and never looked back with a dominating 25-15 match.

It was much of the same in the second set with the visitors keeping the home team to two points less than the previous set at 25-13.

The Hawks left no doubt there would be no fourth set as they allowed the home team just a single digit score with a 25-7 victory.

It was a solid bounce back game for a team who struggled a little - by Hawks’ standards - in their first six games with a 3-3 record.

On Saturday, August 26 the Hawks headed to Bondurant-Farrar and opened up their season at the Skip Anderson Tournament.

The team finished their afternoon with a 3-3 record with 2-0 wins over the Perry Jayettes, the Davis County Bloomfield Mustangs, and the Burlington Notre Dame Nikes.

In their three losses versus the Boone Toreadors, the Gilbert Tigers and the Des Moines Roosevelt Roughriders the Hawks only managed to win one set in six games.

The team is back in action this Thursday when they head to Adel-DeSoto-Minburn for a five game tournament hosted by the ADM Tigers.
