It’s been a rough start for Perry’s volleyball team who managed just one win in eight games to start their 2017-2018 season.
So far the Jayettes (1-7) have had a tough time gaining some traction on the volleyball court with a number of losses in less than a week.
The team’s lone win came during the Skip Anderson Tournament hosted by Bondurant-Farrar this past Saturday, August 26.
Perry’s 2-0 win versus fellow visitors the Nikes of Burlington Notre Dame (1-5) marked the first and only time so far this season the Jayettes managed to win a set - let alone two.
For two straight sets the Jayettes looked as though they finally figured things out winning the first set 21-16 and the second set 21-17. This would prove not to be the case.
The Jayettes would finish their Saturday afternoon with five losses in six games against Knoxville, Dubuque Hempstead, Williamsburg, Davis County Bloomfield, and Woodward-Granger.
On Aug. 29, the Jayettes dropped their first Raccoon River Conference match against the Boone Toreadors (4-3).
At Boone the Jayettes could not seem to get the offense going as they dropped three straight sets, 25-11, 25-13, and 25-16.
They had a similar experience in their opening day matchup versus the St.Edmond, Fort Dodge Gaels (4-2).
On the road at Fort Dodge on Thursday, Aug. 24 the Jayettes failed in their attempt to steal a victory with losses of 25-20, 25-16, and 25-17.
The Jayettes are back in front of the net this Thursday when they partake in the ADM Tournament hosted by Adel DeSoto Minburn H.S.
