After earning a road victory against the Knights last week, Perry’s baseball team was unable to win their second in a row as they fell to the Dutch 11-1.
Monday night on the road at Pella, the Bluejays (7-19), who held an early 1-0 lead after 2 and two-thirds innings, were tagged for eight runs in the bottom of the third in the Pella Dutch’s (21-15) victory.
The game was far cry from what the Bluejays managed to do last Thursday, July 6 when they edged out host the Kuemper Catholic Knights (17-12) in an offensive 12-10 ball game.
Perry took the early 2-0 lead after two innings and increased it to 8-0 after adding another six runs in the top of the fourth inning.
The Bluejays saw their eight run lead cut to five when the host scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth.
Perry responded the following inning with four more runs, which ultimately proved necessary after the Dutch scored three more runs in the sixth and crept to within two runs after scoring four more in the final inning.
For the Bluejays, Brandon Kenyon led the squad at the plate with a 3-for-4 night with three runs and two RBIs.
Individual and game statistics were not completely available. Perry’s Janier Puente recorded the win and finished the game with two RBIs.
