Three first-inning runs were more than enough for Perry’s softball team who took down RRC (Raccoon River Conference) rivals the Bondurant-Farrar Lady Jays (7-24, 0-11) in a 9-0 showdown.

Last night at home the Jayettes’ (24-9, 8-5) bats took care of business early while the pitching, led by RRC strikeout leader Emma Olejniczak, was in the zone.

In her near perfect seven innings of work Olejniczak recorded 12-strikeouts, gave up just two hits and walked none.

Olejniczak, along with third baseman Ariana Eastman, DH Gabby West and second baseman Sidney Vancil finished the game with two hits each.

The home team essentially put the game away in the first inning when their bats tagged the Lady Jays starting pitcher for three runs.

In the second inning the Jayettes increased their margin to 5-0, which morphed the following inning into an 8-run lead. The host’s ninth and final run came in the sixth.

Perry’s catcher Brooke Huntington and first baseman Maddie West each finished the contest with a hit.

it was somewhat of an emotional night for the team’s four seniors - Maddie, Olejniczak, Huntington, and Rachel Kinney, who were honored before the game.

The Jayettes played their final RRC battle tonight at Huxley versus the Ballard Bombers. They close out the regular season at home on July 3, versus the Pella Dutch.
