Perry’s softball team was dealt its 10th loss and sixth conference loss this season after the host Bombers (30-5,11-2) scored three runs in the sixth for the eventual 4-1 win.

Wednesday night, June 28, in their final RRC (Raccoon River Conference) match this season, the Jayettes (24-10, 8-6) traveled to Huxley where they struggled to put up some runs on the board against Ballard.

It was a similar story for the home team whose offense scored only one run through five innings on Jayettes’ starting pitcher Emma Olejniczak.

In the sixth inning after the road team tied the game at one, the Bombers scored three runs and the following inning successfully held the Jayettes scoreless.

In her seven innings of work, Olejniczak gave up six hits on 24 at bats, four runs (2 earned) with nine strikeouts.

Sidney Vancil, Jayettes’ second baseman, led the squad in hits with a 2-for-3 night. Teammates Rachel Kinney, right fielder and Brooke Huntington, catcher, contributed a hit each.

The Jayettes will finish up the regular season this coming Monday when they host the Pella Dutch.
