A three-run fifth inning by the host Carlisle Wildcats (19-5, 9-1) was just enough to earn Perry’s baseball team another Raccoon River Conference (RRC) loss.

Monday night at Carlisle High School the Bluejays (5-16, 4-7) struggled to get their back going in a low scoring 3-1 affair.

Alexis Garrido, Perry’s starting pitcher, worked all six innings where he gave up three runs on six hits and walked four on 78 pitches.

For 4.1 innings the score remained scoreless until the bottom of the fifth when the home team figured out Garrido’s pitches and successfully scored their three runs.

Perry responded the following inning with their only run of the night. The following inning the home team put their guest away.

The Bluejays were off from competition on Tuesday but take the field tonight at home against RRC nemesis the Bondurant-Farrar Bluejays.

A big crowd of past Perry High School ball players and other alumni are slated to pack the home field Wednesday night after former graduate Joel Ruggle created a facebook page - Bluejay Baseball Alumni Night - as a way to encourage fans to show their support to the team and tenured head coach Mike Long.
