So far this season there hasn’t been an opposing team able to dry up PSST’s (Perry Summer Swim Team) winning formula.

This Tuesday at the McCreary Center PSST recorded their seventh win of the season after defeating the swim team from Manning, Iowa, 471-24.

According to a spokesperson for PSST, Manning only had eight competitors against 48 of Perry’s athletes.

Nevertheless the PSST squad competed at their highest level with a couple of records needing its place in the team’s records book.

“Two pool and team records were broken tonight,” the PSST spokesperson said. “In the 15-18 boys 100 free, Ethan Winey broke his own pool and team records of 59.71 set on June 6, 2017 with a time 58.42.”

Ethan also helped the 15-18 boys 200-free relay team of Caleb Winey, Drew Storey, and Devon Archer, break the pool and team record with a time of 1:50.76.

The previous record time of 1:51.54 was set back on July 7, 2009 by the team of Brian Fillorio, Nick Bruce, Kaleb Wright, and Kane Seeley, the spokesperson wrote.

It was a special night at the McCreary Center as Archer, Haley Vaughn, and Caleb were recognized in the senior night portion of the event.

“We wish them well in their future endeavors,” he spokesperson said.

The win marked the seventh straight of the season with PSST’s sixth win coming on June 22 in a 358- 236 victory over the host Denison Stingrays.

As a team PSST racked up a total of 50 first place finishes (35 individual and 15 team) out of the possible 76 events.

All in all the girls’ team tallied 26 top spots while the boys’ team accounted for the other 24 first place finishes.

PSST’s next meet will be June 29 at home against Glidden. This event was originally scheduled as an away meet, but according to the spokesperson, due to the weather forecast Glidden is coming to Perry.

The last meet of the regular season will bring Sac City to Perry on Thursday, July 6. The conference meet for all members of IWSC (Iowa West Swim Conference) is slated for Saturday, July 15 in Sac City.
