It has been a busy week for Perry’s Summer Swim team (PSST). The squad’s been all over the state with meets at Coon Rapids, Guthrie Center and at home.
Yesterday in Coon Rapids Iowa, the team recorded their third straight win in the past nine days when they defeated the Coon Rapids Dolphins team 359-244.
The two squads combined for 15 team first place victories with the boys recording eight and the girls finishing with seven.
In the individual leg of the afternoon, PSST posted a total of 30 first place finishes. Both squads accounted for 15 wins each.
It was the third meet in less than a week for PSST who hit the pool for on June 8, when the squad traveled to Guthrie Center for another 76-event meet that saw the Perry’s boys and girls’ team outscore Guthrie Center 330.5-298.5 (Girls - 172.5 and boys - 158).
As a team PSST recorded 11- first place finishes. The girls’ team tallied six first place wins while the boys accounted for the other five.
Individually the female squad garnished an extra win then their colleagues. Fifteen girls stood tall on the first place platform with 14 of their male counterparts recording the top spot.
PSST was back at it on June 5, at the McCreary Community Building as they welcomed Jefferson’s squad for a full day of competition.
Once again the hometown swimmers showed those in attendance why they are a team to be reckoned with. PSST dominated the water with a 365 to 243 victory.
The squad combined for 11 first place finishes out of the possible 19 meets. Seven times the host girls took the top prize while the PSST boys claimed first place four times. In their individual events the Boys’ captured 18 first place finishes with the girls’ squad tallying 14.
