Perry’s softball team added another shutout win to their 2017 resume and in the process recorded their fifth straight win with an 8-0 finish against the Gilbert Tigers (1-12).

Last night on the road at Gilbert the Jayettes (14-4) silenced the Tigers’ bats allowing the home team a mere two hits.

Emma Olejniczak, Jayettes’ starting pitcher, recorded her 12th win of the season. In the victory she struck out 15 tigers and allowed zero walks.

Teammate, relief pitcher Sidney Vancil, took over in the seventh. In one inning she allowed no runs on no hits and struck out two.

The Jayettes set the tone early with two runs in the first, another three in the third and capped it off with a run in each of the final three innings.

Vancil, shortstop Joahnna Diw, and first baseman Maddie West finished tied on the tea in hits with three a piece. Vancil scored three runs, Diw stole two bases and West added a double.

As a team at the plate the Jayettes scored their eight runs off 14 hits, but on the field committed three errors.

This is the fifth straight road win for the squad who currently post a 7-1 road record and overall have won eight of their last 10 games.
